How many of you all have experienced this while you are working on your powerpoint in RP because of the automatic updates and forces you to restart by making a countdown. Even if you click restart later it would just pop up right up 15 mins later! Annnoying ain’t it!

Just if you don’t know what I’m talking about…

How to:

  1. Click Start,
  2. then Run.
  3. Type net stop wuauserv
  4. A command window will execute and closes when the service is stopped.
  5. System tray icon and notifications will all be gone for good until the next update.
  6. Restart at your own pleasure!

  1. Great solution. Thanks! 🙂

  2. Thanks! You rock.

  3. Thanks. I was running convert.exe to change a FAT32 volume to NTFS when the above dialog popped up, and only barely caught it to avert sudden automated data corruption disaster havoc.
